This will enable sailors who do not meet the World Sailing Minimal Disability Classification criteria to enter the Para category. As a result of the inclusion of the Open category, the event will present awards to both the Para and Open Venture Connect Class Champions.

In addition to this event, World Sailing, the global governing body for the sport, will organize a three-day Paralympic Development Program (PDP) Clinic to provide training for race officials and coaches. The clinic builds on the success of the first PDP, which took place in Oman in April.
